In 2010, I embarked on a remarkable journey with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, coaching young children in Tottenham, Enfield, and Harlow. The experience was nothing short of fantastic, leaving me with memories and a passion for the beautiful game that have stayed with me to this day.
Fast forward to 2023, and I find myself dusting off my coaching boots and returning to my roots in grassroots football coaching. My journey begins with the FA's "Introduction to Coaching Football." What makes this return even more special is the fact that Tottenham Hotspur has very kindly invited me back to work alongside their Foundation coaches. I cannot thank them enough, and I am truly looking forward to coming back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or White Hart Lane, as it will forever be known in my heart.
The "Introduction to Coaching Football" course is the ideal starting point for anyone with a passion for developing players, instilling a deeper understanding of the game, and fostering a love for football. Whether you are already coaching a team or looking to make your mark in the coaching world, this course equips you with the essential skills to create a safe and enjoyable football environment while delivering effective practices and games for players of all ages.
The course is a well-rounded blend of live weekly webinars, e-learning modules, a supportive coaching community, and an array of resources designed to nurture your coaching talents. It focuses on three core elements: the player, the game, and you as a coach. Throughout the course, you'll learn from experienced coach developers who generously share their insights and knowledge during weekly webinar broadcasts. Moreover, you'll have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals within the coaching community, enabling you to explore and exchange stories, as well as receive valuable advice and support along the way.
To successfully complete the "Introduction to Coaching Football" course, you'll need to work through e-learning modules each week and take a short online assessment. The e-learning can be completed at your own pace, typically spanning approximately four weeks. You are given a 12-month window from your start date to finish the course, providing you with flexibility and ensuring that you have ample time to absorb and apply the knowledge.
The course serves as a replacement for The FA Level 1 in Coaching Football, offering a comprehensive and contemporary approach to football coaching education.
Before embarking on my journey into coaching, I had to satisfy some prerequisites, including passing the 'Safeguarding Children Course' and the 'Introduction to First Aid in Football' courses, which I'm pleased to say I've accomplished. Additionally, I've recently earned certificates in various relevant areas, such as Equality and Diversity, Respect for Coaches, Introduction to Talent Identification in Football, Safeguarding for All, and BT Playmaker by England Football. These accomplishments are stepping stones that have prepared me for the "Introduction to Coaching Football" course.
As I eagerly anticipate commencing my coaching journey, I am already deeply involved with CHARS Youth FC, where I've been appointed as the 'Technical Director.' This position allows me to work closely with the existing coaches and gain invaluable experience. I am enthusiastic about contributing my newfound knowledge and skills to help nurture the next generation of football talents and to create a positive, supportive environment for young players.

My return to grassroots football coaching symbolises a full-circle journey from my early days with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to where I stand today. The "Introduction to Coaching Football" course is the first step in my ongoing mission to share my passion for the sport and help young players develop their skills, their understanding of the game, and their love for football.
With the knowledge and experience gained through this course, I look forward to making a positive impact on the world of grassroots football and inspiring the next generation of football enthusiasts, one kick of the ball at a time.
